He moved to Denver, CO, in 1979, where he worked in warehousing and truck driving. He made many friends there and enjoyed the great snow skiing and traveling opportunities the area offered. After returning to the Northwest in 1989, he moved to Spokane, where he continued to enjoy those outdoor activities until a surgical mishap limited his ability to further pursue them. He was also married for several years, helping to raise and care for his stepchildren with his wife Sherrie. During his time in Spokane, Dave began working for Oxarc Corp. and remained employed there for 20 years, both in Spokane and Pasco. His most recent employment was with MSA as an Industrial Hygiene Technician, which he had commented was a great job, working with many friendly and helpful coworkers. Upon returning to Kennewick in 2000, Dave met some wonderful friends through a local spiritually based fellowship program, with which he continued to enjoy his true and lasting passion of motorcycle riding on his Harley Davidson's. Many adventurous rides were taken with these friends, including the Redwoods of California, Sturgis, SD, the Oregon coast, and many of the back roads and highways in Washington State., Of great importance to David was spending meaningful and loving times with all of his family. He always enjoyed the family reunions, taking trips, and especially the time during holidays and special events. Some of those trips included visiting his brother Jeff in Phoenix, AZ and attending Seahawks games together when they both lived in Spokane. Their last trip together was this past April along the Oregon coast, celebrating David's birthday while there., Always the entertainer, he enjoyed hosting pool parties and BBQs, Seahawks games on TV, attending the various Fellowship events and group motorcycle rides. Dave has always been known for his exceptional ability to make all those around him feel better with humor, laughter and a helping hand, even as he continued to decline in health from his recent illness. David's honesty, dignity and faith have set the new benchmark for all of us to follow., One of his proudest accomplishments has come through the renewal of his faith, becoming a born-again Christian with encouragement and support from various local churches including the Apostolic Christian Church., David was preceded in death by both parents, Walter and Jean, and by his older brother Karl., Surviving him are his sisters Debby Munroe, Linda (Darr) Bartlett and brother Jeff, along with nephews Christopher (Melissa) Munroe, Nicholas (Holly) Munroe and his niece Rachel Bartlett., The family would like to thank and extend our deepest appreciation to all those who have been so helpful and loving through these difficult times. We couldn't have gotten through these times without his many great friends who have helped in so many ways, including visits and phone calls and just hanging out sometimes. We would also like to thank his close friend Wendy Learn from Spokane and especially the wonderful, dedicated and loving help of the Hospice personnel and Home Healthcare Solutions. They have been a true Godsend to David and the family., Most importantly, however, we all want to thank you, David, for having lived a life full of Spirit, Integrity and Courage, and for sharing it with all of us., Ride on, Brother!

GARN LAMAR GILBERT

Garn Lamar Gilbert, 89, of Othello, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the Avalon Care Center., Garn was born on February 22, 1922, in Duchesne, Utah, to Ozza L. and Aurilla (Ross) Gilbert. His mother passed away when he was 10 months old. Two years later, his father married Rosey Meranda, who loved him as a mother and who he lovingly called 'Mama'. He attended high school in Roosevelt, Utah, and one year at the Agricultural College of Utah (now Utah State University). While in high school, Garn met Barbara Lusty. On November 14, 1944, Garn and Barbara were married and sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Garn joined the Merchant Marines during WWll, serving as a ships cook in the Pacific war zone. After his discharge, Garn and Barbara lived in Arcadia, Utah, until 1958 ,when they moved to the Columbia Basin to farm, settling in Othello. In 1965, they were asked by the Ore-Ida Company to move to Greenville, Michigan, to grow potatoes. They returned to Othello in 1966 and resumed their farming, eventually adding a dairy operation and dairy product processing plant to their business interests. In 1989, Garn and Barbara served an LDS mission in Philadelphia, PA, and in 1992, they departed for their second mission in Birmingham, AL. In 1996, as they were preparing for a third mission, Garn suffered a debilitating stroke. For a few years, he continued to help on the farm and travel to be with family, but eventually the effects of the stroke kept him at home where he and Barbara enjoyed each other and their family., Garn's greatest passion was his family, and his love for the soil and farming provided many opportunities for being and working with his children. Many of his children's fondest memories include one-onone times with him as they worked together. He insisted on family unity and harmony and would not allow fighting or quarreling among his children. Family home evenings always included the singing of 'Love at Home.' He loved his occupation of farming and being a part of the process of Mother Nature in planting and nurturing crops as they grew to maturity and harvest. He took great pleasure in experimenting with crops and watching their diverse natures, at one time growing as many as 11 different crops., Garn was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a bishop of the Arcadia (Utah) Ward, a stake high councilman in Michigan, and a youth leader, chorister and Sunday school teacher in Othello. In addition to their missions, Garn and Barbara served as ordinance workers in the Seattle Temple for several years.

Henry Bacon Gibbs

Henry Bacon GIBBS Henry (Hank) Gibbs was born in Cartney, Arkansas in the Ozarks to David and Cora Gibbs on August 2, 1924 and passed gently to the Lord on May 18, 2011. David, a railroad man, and Cora, a nurse, welcomed all to their table during those Depression years. Along with his siblings, David, Sam, and Jean, Henry enjoyed hunting for the family table or fishing the White River. Although Henry left Arkansas by age 14, he had vivid memories and tales to share of swimming with water moccasins and sweeping the errant 'ball-of-lightning' out of the farmyard. The railroad brought the family to Seattle in the late 30's and Henry attended Richmond Beach High School. Hank enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and he proudly served on the USS Oglethorpe during WWII. Henry met the love of his life, Gladys Kleven, at Fort Lawton (now Discovery Park). They wed in 1946. Henry worked at Pier 91 for the Navy until the base was shuttered in the late 1960's. He had a second career at Judson Park Caldwell as a building and grounds superintendent. Many memories were made at the family cabin on Whidbey Island as well as during annual trips to the Kleven homestead in North Dakota. Henry and Gladys lived in their tight-knit Bitter Lake neighborhood they called home for over 50 years. Henry was active in church, junior football, politics, and the kitchen; there was never a shortage of opinions or friends to share them with. Retirement brought travel, grandkids, and health challenges for Gladys. Hank was a hard working man who loved to laugh, put his family first, and wasn't afraid to fight for what he felt was right. Henry was pre-deceased by his wife of 60 years, Gladys, and was the last surviving Gibbs sibling. Henry was the cherished father of Lorraine Gibbs-Long (Bruce) of Seattle and James of Edmonds, and was a devoted grandpa to Audrey and Helena Long. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Grace Syverson of Tioga, ND, and Pauline Gibbs of Richmond Beach. Henry leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. She touched so many lives with her unforgettable smile, delightful sense of humor, her enduring courage, intelligence, affection, and grace. Following her injury, she truly re-entered the world with her devoted and loving service dog Ellijay at her side and volunteered in roles as diverse as helping new elementary school readers and those in hospice. Jane was born in Englewood, New Jersey, in December 1952, and graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. Ruby Rose Reynolds

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand- mother, great-great-grand- mother, aunt and friend entered into rest with the Lord on Monday, May 30, 2011. She was born on December 15, 1920 to George and Delia Potvin in Okanogan, Washington the 12th of 14th children. Ruby is the last to join her brothers and sisters in Heaven with her beloved mother and father. We will miss her, but rejoice in her journey., Ruby is survived by her husband Mansfield and their three sons M.G. "Boots" (Dawn), Bruce (Gloria) and Wayne (Brenda). Ruby and Mans have eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, too numerous to count., Ruby and Mans were married in Okanogan, WA on August 26, 1939. They would have celebrated their 72nd year together this year. Ruby and Mans lived in Omak for their first two years of their marriage. From there, they were in Spanaway, WA until 1949 when they moved to the Spokane area., During her life Ruby worked at Betty & Lee's Cafe and Arnold's Hotel; but her hardest and most joyous job was raising her sons and keeping house for Mans. Ruby enjoyed camping, horse back riding, bowling and crocheting as well as going to Bingo, which she was good at., Nothing was more important to Ruby than family; whether you were born into it or simply adopted into her embrace. You always knew you were loved and always welcome, no matter what. If you showed up at meal time you were fed; if you came early, you stayed until it was time to be fed. Ruby loved family reunions. It was her chance to catch up with family and reminisce about family. She could never get enough time visiting and now that she is in Heaven with so many of her loved ones; we can only pray that we will be blessed to join Ruby when time comes., Graveside services will be held on Saturday June 4th, 10:00a.m. at Peone Cemetery, Mead, WA.
