Adrienne Yvonne "Vonnie" Scott, age 84, passed away January 23, 2011 in Vancouver, WA. Vonnie was born to Archie Reed and Theresa Beaumont Reed on September 18, 1926 in Bemidji, MN., She was married to Clifford Arnold Scott on July 6, 1944 in Vancouver, WA and they lived most of their married lives in Pend O'Reille and Clark Counties, Washington., Vonnie loved to garden, do crafts, bowl, play cards and bingo with her family and friends. She was very involved in North Clark County Little League with husband Cliff and she coached Babe Ruth. She spent many hours taking care of animals, both tame and wild., Vonnie is survived by her sister, Jan Haines of Portland, OR; six children; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren., She was preceded in death by husband, Cliff; son, Douglas; and brothers, Bob and Jack Cole., Memorial services will be held Sat., Jan. 29th, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Glenwood Community Church, 12201 NE 72nd Ave., Vancouver, WA 98686., In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the local Humane Society or Hospice., Please sign Adrienne's guest book at:

Entered into rest on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Twilight Manor where she resided for the past nine months., Her funeral will be Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 1:30 PM at HAZEN AND JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. Monroe Street, Spokane. Terry Sherven will officiate. The burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 4:00-7:00 pm, and on Saturday from 1:00-4:00 pm., Anna R. Heupel was born on July 4, 1924, one of twelve children, to Jacob and Rosina (Pfeiffer) Heupel in Eureka, SD. Anna was the third eldest. She attended school in Wetonka, SD., She married Walt Frankfurth on June 30, 1942, in Leola, SD, and they were married for 54 years. After he was drafted into WWII, she traveled to various U.S. forts with him., She was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Leola, later a member of St. Paul's in Aberdeen, and St. Paul's in Spokane for about 35 years., Family was Anna's highest priority, and she enjoyed helping organize family get-togethers. In her earlier years she played organ and accordion, and later enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, and dancing., She is survived by one daughter, Valera Morrow (Ray) of Spokane WA; a son, Garland Frankfurth of Sequim, WA; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and partner, George Gabriel. Surviving brothers are Walter Heupel (Ruth) of Aberdeen, SD, Harry Heupel of Aberdeen, SD and Jacob Heupel (Marlene) of Manteca, CA., She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, and five brothers., The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Twilight Manor for their special care of Anna.

Arnold William Hartgrave, a 38 year resident of Wenatchee, passed away on January 23, 2011, with his family at his side. He was born in Graniteville, MO on February 19, 1933, to the late Arthur and Naomi (Wills) Hartgrave. Arnie spent 30 years as a Claims Representative for the Social Security Administration (SSA), which is how he met his wife of nearly 39 years, Betty.

She is survived by her three children, Donna Crider of Spokane, Marvin Lamb of Endicott, WA, Renee Lamb of Coronado, CA; eight grandchildren, Kay Walker, Yvonne Walker, Jim Crider, Mike Crider, Tracie Arnold, Tricia Lamb, Travis Lamb, Michelle Grady; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ron Roper of Spokane. Mrs. Lamb was a member of the Endicott Garden Club and a longtime Grange member. She is remembered as a good mother who took pride in raising her kids. Visitation will be on Thursday beginning at 3:00 pm at HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. MONROE ST , followed by a Rosary Service at 5:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, January 28, 2011 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 330 E. Boone Ave. in Spokane. Interment Service will follow at 2:00 pm at the Endicott Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Spokane.


 


 

BETTIE GRAHAM BOLDMAN SCHUBERT

In 1967, Bettie went to work for Old National Bank of Washington, retiring in 1987. She was always proud to be part of the bank., Over the years, she took part in several organizations: Beta Sigma Phi, Epsilon Beta Chapter, and Franklin County Democratic Central Committee serving as a precinct person for 5 years and as secretary for 2 years, Credit Women International and TriCities Credit Association. During this time she received awards for Credit Woman of the Year, the Gold Pin Award and Credit Individual of the year. She was an active member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine Club of whom she was very proud., She was most currently a member of the Women's Moose Chapter 1204 and had been a member since 1972. She is a member of Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles Area No. 2485 and the American Legion Auxiliary No. 2008., She is survived by her husband, Ed Schubert; daughters Bonnie Goodell and Julie Burton; son-inlaw Randy Burton; grandsons Cody Goodell and Casey Goodell; three sisters, Donna Mae Dalton, LaVon Krienke and Juanita Green, and her brother-in-law Homer Dalton. She loved them deeply plus all of the relatives and friends she left behind., Over the past 20 years there was a very special 'Girls Night Out' where the girls would meet weekly for dinner and cards. These ladies were very special to her., She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Minnie Graham, first husband Larry Boldman; daughter Lorena Jeanette Boldman and sister Daphyn Brown., She married Ed Schubert in 1990, and they enjoyed many happy years together; including mushroom hunting in the Blue Mountains, many weeks spent on the ocean at Grayland, WA, roaming Elks R.V. Club, trips to Laughlin NV, cruises and casinos. She always enjoyed life to the fullest., Services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union in Kennewick, Washington.

Barbara Chrisman went to be with the Creator on January 24, 2011., She was born on March 25, 1936 in Oakland, CA. Barb was blessed with seven children, as well as 27 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren., Barb loved volunteering for the Marysville Seniors on Patrol and the Marysville/Tulalip Visitors Center. She married Edward "Mike" Lannen in April of 1962., Barbara worked and lived the majority of her life in the Silver Valley. She enjoyed her family and friends, reading, her flowers and the beauty of the outdoors. She was raised in Cathlamet, WA and attended Beauty College in Portland, OR., On July 14, 1951 Bette married Robert C. Roberts., She was a member of American Morgan Horse Association, WA Farm Bureau, and National Cosmetology Association., Bette was a hairdresser and owned her own salon, Aloha Beauty Bungalow, for many years, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed showing her Morgan horses and won many awards. Betty May McMaster

Betty passed away January 24, 2011 in Moses Lake. She was born in Hendrix, OK on August 19, 1930 to Lee Roy and Maybell Kelley and was the fourth of six children. She took delight in reaching the age of 80 when no one else in her family had done so. When she was 16, Betty met Victor McMaster who was a sailor in the U.S. Navy. They were married on March 30, 1947. At the age of 20 Betty was the mother of three children; Venda, Vicki and Mike. The family lived in El Monte, CA until 1958 and then moved to Canada to study the Bible at Prairie Bible Institute. Her husband Victor passed away in 2002. In 2006 Betty moved to Ephrata to live in the Basin Retirement Home to be near her daughter Vicki. She loved the last years of her life in Ephrata, and she enjoyed living in a small town. Betty is preceded in death by both parents, one sister and four brothers. She is survived by her daughters Venda Adams of Auburn, WA, and Vicki (Dave) Johnson of Ephrata, son Michael (Janice) McMaster of Mission Viejo, CA, along with 10 grandchildren Ruth and Matt Hochstedler, John Adams, Paul and Amanda Adams, David Adams, Kim and Chad Lavine, Bryan and Katie Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Ryan, Patrick and Jennifer McMaster and seven great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 28th at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA. The Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 29 at First Baptist Church, 327 C Street SW, Ephrata, WA. Charlotte grew up in Tacoma and would later work in the shipyards. She worked up and down the coast from Alaska to California before retiring in Spokane. Charlotte was an active member of Hillyard Senior Center and a lifetime member of the, . where she loved to dance. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Elmer Henspeter and Lester Nelson. She is survived by her two sons, Robin and Chuck Henspeter, sister Lucille VanWagner, brother Jack Endicott, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dallene Evelyn (Hull) McSorley

Dallene Evelyn McSorley (Hull), age 87, passed away January 14, 2011, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after a two-year struggle with cancer. Born in Laramie, Wyoming, June 26, 1923, to Dall and Evelyn Hull, she moved to Whatcom County, Washington, in 1929. She was a graduate of Ferndale High School in 1941 where she worked as a librarian, then as a clerk at the Ferndale U.S. Post Office. She married Eugene McSorley November 29, 1941, who has preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Jeff and Susan McSorley, Lynden, Washington, Sandi and Bob Stewart, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Ron and Joeen McSorley, Ferndale, Washington. Dallene also worked at the Pioneer Ridge Rest Home, at Clary Jensen's Floral Shop, for Dr. R.V. Tucker as his gold lab technician, and finally for Whatcom Dental Lab, where she retired. She was a member of the United Methodist Church for several years where she sang in the choir and then became a Seventh-Day Adventist in 1974 where she served as a Community Service Leader for many years, sharing the love of Jesus and the Gospel to many. She is also survived by three sisters, Helen Hansen, Snohomish, Washington, Hazel Lintz, Bellingham, Washington, and Bonnie Cratsenberg, Bellingham, Washington; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Services will be held at the Ferndale Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2488 Mountain View Road, Ferndale, Washington, on Sunday, January 30, 2011, at 2:00 PM. Daniel Paul HOLMAN 74, of Renton, died January 24, 2011. Born in Butte, Montana, June 29, 1936 he was Vice President of Craftsman Press for 41 years. He loved his family, was an avid outdoorsman, sportsman, and especially loved casting a fly on the river. Dan is survived by his loving wife, Delores Holman; sons, Danny and Mike; daughter Nancy Berry; five grandchildren, Sarah, Daniel, Michael, Hollie, and Madeline; two great grandchildren, Linzy and Malia. Daniel Roger (Dan) Archie

Daniel (Dan) Roger ARCHIE Age 75, of Redmond, Washington passed away peacefully with family by his side, on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Overlake Medical Center. Dan was born on Nov 6, 1935, in Watertown, Wisconsin, the son of Alma and Robert Archie. He grew up in Watertown and upon graduating high school, enrolled in the University of Wisconsin - Madison and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business. On Dec 27, 1958, Dan was united in marriage to Doris Irene Skaar in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death on March. 21, 2006. Dan and Doris moved to LaGrange, Illinois where he started working with the Carson Pirie Scott company as a salesman. In 1963 he moved to Madison, Wisconsin to work for the Mitchell Company selling duplicating machines and then in 1974 for AB Dick, selling printers and photocopy machines. It was with A.B. Dick that he won many sales achievements and pacemaker awards. He finished out his career in 2006 with Insty-Prints in Madison, Wisconsin. Dan also served in the Wisconsin Air National Guard in data processing from 1959 to 1965. He was involved in the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity while attending the University of Wisconsin and also was a member of the Rotary International. Dan enjoyed travel, cooking, dining out, football, and music (especially Big Band Music). He will be remembered as funny, and always quick with a joke. He lived a full life. Dan is survived by his children, Daniel (Stacy) Archie (Jr) of Walton, Kentucky (Cincinnati area) and Sarah (Art) Smith of Redmond, Washington. He is also survived by four grandchildren Alex and Austin Smith; Nicholas and Jack Archie, and other family and friends. In addition to his wife, Doris and his parents, Dan was preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Carol) Archie. The final arrangements are being handled by the Sunset Hills Funeral Home, Bellevue Washington. Donald Edward Dingman

A longtime resident of the Denison area near Deer Park, Washington, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011. He is the dear husband of Myrna L. Dingman (married 54 years) and the loving father and father-in-law of Greg Dingman, Eric Dingman, and Donna and Terry Dearing. His brother is Bruce Dingman of Denison. Don enjoyed six grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson. Born in 1932 at Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada, he worked for the Bureau of Public Roads in Juneau, Alaska, served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a car inspector for Great Northern/Burlington North Railroad having worked there for thirty years, retiring in 1986. He is a life member of the, . Post 3067 in Deer Park. Don and Myrna have a 1928 Model "A" Ford Sports Coupe which Don had in many parades in various communities in northeastern Washington. Funeral Services honoring Don will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 29, 2011, in Deer Park at the Open Door Congregational Church followed by a reception at the V.F.W. in Deer Park. Private interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.

While her children were in school, she was a great stay-at-home mom and excelled at her tasks. She was more than at home in her kitchen where she could take any recipe, add a little of this and a little of that, and make it fantastic. She loved planting flowers and working in her garden. Grandma and Grandpa spent a lot of time with their grandchildren, taking them places, sharing experiences, and making memories that will last forever. Edyth attended business school in Sheridan and worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a court reporter. During World War II, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the Department of War. She met her husband, John 'Jack' P. Hampton at a USO dance and he subsequently proposed to her on the steps of the Capital Building. Upon his return from the Pacific Theater, they were married on March 25, 1946, in Helena, MT. From this union five children were born. Jack and Edyth moved to Kennewick in 1956. Edyth worked for Civil Service including the Pasco Post Office for over 20 years., Edyth is survived by her brother, Dr. Herbert V. Adams and wife Margaret of Sheridan, WY; five children: John P Hampton, Jr. and wife Shelley of Everett, WA, Janice Hampton-Case and husband Frank of Pasco, Julia Schmidt and husband John of Kennewick, Judith Hampton and Bob Pierson of Kennewick, Jennifer Derrick of Kennewick; grandchildren Dennis Hiner, Jr., Erin Rosane and husband Steve, Isaac Case and Kasey Dearinger, Jordan Case and wife Shannon, Jessica McDonald and husband Jerrad, and Sarah Hampton; greatgrandchildren Harrisen Rosane, Lindsey Hiner, Dylan Hiner, Max Rosane, Taiton Gillespie, Garret Gillespie, River Case, and Amiah Woods; numerous nieces, nephews; and granddog Marlee., Special thanks to her faithful and good friends, Jan Conatore and Mary White., Edyth was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jack; her parents; her brothers Clarence Hayden and Leo J. Earnest was born March 31, 1932, to Ernest and Paula Scarborough in Savannah, GA. He joined the Air Force in December of 1951. After Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, he was assigned to McChord A.F.B. at Tacoma, WA; Geiger A.F.B. at Spokane, WA; and Goose Bay A.F.B. at Labrador, Greenland.

"Rene" was born in Spokane, WA to Swedish immigrants, David and Selma Carlson. She grew up in Peaceful Valley, graduating from Lewis and Clark High School. She attended Whitworth College, where she met Lou Boni, her true soul mate and husband of 64 years. Rene and Lou began their family in Spokane, having a son, Louis. They moved to Tonasket, WA and had two daughters, Sally and Barbara.

Elaine Diane COLVIN Elaine Colvin passed away on De cember 30th 2010. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, professional quilt artist, former choir director and 25 year breast cancer survivor, Elaine succumbed to non-small cell lung cancer after a six month battle. She was 64 years old. Born Elaine Diane Johnson April 9th 1946 in New Ulm, MN she was the third child of Arthur and Elda Johnson. Elaine was raised on the family farm in Hector, MN. Elaine graduated from Hector Community School in 1964 and went on to attend St. Cloud State College where she earned degrees in Psychology and Audiology while simultaneously working with special needs children as a speech pathologist. After moving to the Seattle area, Elaine directed the Emmanuel Presbyteri an Church Choir in Bothell, WA for ten years. Elaine then began teach ing an after-school quilting program at Summit K-12 in Seattle where she thrilled in introducing young minds to the joys of quilting. During this time, Elaine also established Unfinished Dreams, her longarm quilting business, and became a creative force in the Western Washington quilting scene culminat ing in her service as president at Quilters Anonymous, an organiza tion devoted to preserving the heritage of quilting. Predeceased by her parents and her sister Ardis, Elaine is survived by her husband Curtis Colvin, her sons Todd Bailey, Ryan Bailey and Casey Colvin, her three grandchildren Breanna Bailey, Brandon Bailey and Eveline Midori Bailey Ishisaka, her brother Sheryl Johnson, her cousins in Minnesota, their families and her friends. A memorial service will be held January 29th at Edmonds Church of God at 1PM. Interment will be at Palmyra Lutheran Church Ceme tery outside Hector on April 9th. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent in Elaine's memory to the La Conner Quilt Museum, PO Box 1270, La Conner, WA 98257-1270

Elizabeth Louise "Betty" McCabe

Elizabeth "Betty" Louise McCABE 5-18-1953 thru 1-28-2011 Passed away at the age of 57; She lived in West Seattle all her life. Betty was born at Maynard Hospital in Seattle to Dwain and Elizabeth Willis. Betty's passing touches us deeply, she was greatly loved, and her laughter, love and spirit will be greatly missed. Betty married the love of her life, Daniel A. McCabe, in 1977. They raised two boys- Ryan D. McCabe and Christopher A. McCabe She worked for 19 years for the Seattle School District. Most of that in their cafeteria, she was loved by all the kids. She was known as "The Lunch Lady". She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, camping, ocean trips, old movies and Tv Land shows. She is survived by her husband Dan McCabe, two sons Ryan D. McCabe and Christopher A. McCabe; her father and mother; her brother Ron (Karen) Willis; sisters Lorrie Willis, Patty Willis and Shawn Lovin; numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, January 29th 2011 Viewing is from 9:00 AM till 11:00 AM. He taught Marketing Education and was a DECA advisor for 33 years. He spent 5 years at Evergreen High School in Seattle. Seven years at Olympia High School, in Olympia. In 1971 he moved his family to Kennewick. He then went to Kamiakin High School teaching Marketing and as the DECA advisor. He found a home at Kamiakin where he spent 21 years in Room 307, and retired in 1992., He was President of the Washington Association of Marketing Teachers, in 1962 and again in 1989. He was a member of the WDECA Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors twice over the 33 years of teaching., He was presented the Washington Vocational Association Merit Award in 1984. He was awarded the W DECA Honorary Life Membership in 1983. In 1991 he was awarded the National DECA Honorary Life Membership; at the time he was only one of two classroom teachers to receive this award., He married Marian Clark Gruger in 1960 (also a former DECA student). They had three children Alison, Andrea and Allen. He chose to live in Eastern Washington where for 22 years he, his wife, and kids had a 50 acre farm on South Oak, in South Kennewick. They raised alfalfa, cattle and horses. The alfalfa and cattle were his, the horses his wife and kids., After retirement from teaching and farming, he and his wife built a home on 53rd and Olympia, where they could see all of Kennewick, and the surrounding area from their living room, where they lived for 15 years. He kept busy with his garden and flowers. He also stayed in the cattle business with his daughter Andrea where she and her family lived on 4 acres of what was left of the farm., His greatest pleasure in life was his family, Kamiakin DECA, and the farm in that order. He was pleased to see his Marketing Students become leaders in both this community or wherever they chose to live. He was always pleased to keep track of his students from all 3 High Schools. Class reunions were always looked forward to., He leaves behind his wife Marian of 50 years. His daughter Alison (Mark Boyle) and their children Morgan & Sidney. His daughter Andrea (Jeff) Charboneau and their son Cameron, and Andrea's children Kisha Bundrant and Karissa Palmer. Greatgrandchildren Kaell Lane and Makena Bundrant. His son Allen (Rexus) and his sons Adrian James and Nickolas. He is survived by his brother Frank and his wife Cassie. Floyd owned the Masteller's Agency for Farmers Insurance in Kellogg, Idaho for thirty years. Floyd loved his family, RVing, Hooking rugs, and gardening. He was a member of the Lions Club and the, for 50 years. Frederick Eugene EWING Frederick Eugene Ewing passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in Chelan at the age of 98. He was born in Seattle on February 1, 1912 to Al bert and Anna Ewing as the fourth of five children. He is survived by his only child, Frederick Richard Ewing (Lorraine) and their seven children, Moira Ann and Thea of Snohomish, Karl(Alaska), Cully (Seattle), Toby (Bothell), Tim (Japan), and Todd (California) and seven great grand children. After graduating from Lincoln High, Fred worked for Seattle Ice Delivery Company with his father who was also a poet. A collection of his poems was compiled by his nephew Peter Cameron and recently published as "Musings of an Ice Man". Fred first delivered ice to homes, and prior to and during World War II, moved on to icing refrigerator cars for the railroads. Shortly after the War, when refrigeration came into being, he then began working for the Seattle Diesel Oil Sales deliver ing furnace oil to homes and church es all over Seattle and its environs. His last endeavor was as a founding partner in the Carnation Golf Course and residing on the course with his wife Dorothy. She was the main food provisioner for the pro shop and lent her artistic talents to the course in general. Dorothy predeceased him in 1982. Fred later married Margaret Woods of Manson and resided happily there for many years. Memorial services will be held at Northshore Bible Church, 123 Wapato Pkwy, Manson, WA at 2:00 PM, Sat urday, January 29th, 2011. T

Gerald William Keevy, Sr., was born on November 6, 1919, to Charles Edward and Leila Helen Keevy. He peacefully went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2011. Gerald is survived by his son, Duane (Anne); daughter, Karen Ornee (John); daughter-in-law, Kay; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; sons, Donald and Gerald William, Jr. (Bill); and brothers, Donald and Gene., Gerald was born and raised in Spangle, WA. He had fond memories of his childhood and always was happy to ride along the roads in the country and reminisce about his early life and experiences. He joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Denver, CO, where he met Esther Marie Dahlberg and fell in love at first sight on July 4, 1943. They married on September 24, 1943. Gerald and Marie celebrated 62 years of a strong, loving marriage., Gerald will be remembered for his devotion to his family and his quiet faith. He always worked hard to provide for his family and lived a life of honesty and integrity, sprinkled with a generous sense of humor. He had a special love for children and each one that came along made him smile. Helen Bernice Smart

Helen Bernice Smart died on January 21, 2011 in Spokane, Washington. She was born on February 12, 1920 in Miles City, Montana to Roscoe Calvert Foley and Estella Eliza Farris Seaton Foley. She was raised in the Miles City, Montana area and attended a one-room school at Garland, Montana. At 16, she moved to Lamont, Washington where she graduated from the Lamont High School. After high school, she moved to Spokane and worked various jobs. She got married June 25, 1943 to Rex Mealey Smart in Spokane. During World War II she worked painting planes. After the war she and Rex moved to a farm south of Spokane near Windsor Grange. They lived there for about four years. Then they moved to Spokane. In 1962 they moved to Elk where she resided until she passed away. Helen was a room mother for her children and a Brownie leader. She loved gardening and sewing, even making all of her children's clothing until they got "too cool" to wear homemade clothes. Helen liked to go huckleberrying, backpacking, and hunting. One of her hobbies was raising peacocks. She canned all of her own foods until the last three years. She was still quilting up to the time of her death. She was involved with the Methodist church over the years and her last church was the Elk Community Church. She is survived by her children: Melva Lohstroh of Spokane, Barbara (James) Anderson of Suncrest, Mary Ann Hotrum of Spokane, and David Smart of Elk. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Bret, Kim, Scott, Jenny, Julie, Heather, Charity, Peter, Melody, Andy, and Amber; 28 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Rex (2003), her parents, siblings, and her son, Lee, in 1964. Funeral Services honoring Mrs. Smart will be held in Elk, WA at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the Country Church of the Open Bible followed with interment in Elk Cemetery #1. A reception will be held at the church following the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America or a charity of your choice.

Helen DeSHAW Helen DeShaw was my extra mother not just my mother-in-law. I met her shortly after I met her son Glen. I, Becky, was 15. I will miss her as of course so will many others. At 92, rapidly approaching 93, she still has many friends in her church, NW Christian in Ballard, and at Wesley Terrace in Des Moines where she spent her last years after the death of her husband, Jesse (Hap)DeShaw. The surviving family, Glen and I, our daughters Jenn DeShaw, Jessi Overton and her family, my nieces Sandi LeVar and Shannon Krause and their families, my sister Linda Leifsen and her family will miss her. Ilene Schroeder, age 67, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. She was born April 19, 1943 in Sumas, WA to Peter and Ella (Timmer) Huisingh and was a 1961 Lynden Christian High School graduate. Following high school she attended nursing school; obtained her LPN degree and focused her nursing career on patient rehabilitation care. In her early years, Ilene worked in the Lynden Fair office. Her first marriage to Robert S. Buys ended and she later married Larry Schroeder on August 28, 1982 in Lynden, WA. Ilene was organist at Bethel Christian Reformed Church for a number of years and was organist and a charter member of Quincy Christian Reformed Church. James A. ROBECK May 6, 1932 ~ January 20, 2011 James Andrew Robeck was born in Everett, WA to the Rev. A.E. and Myrtle Robeck. He attended school in Aberdeen, WA, graduating from Weatherwax High School in 1950. He attended Grays Harbor Community College and Seattle Pacific (College) University, where he played on the varsity basketball team. He graduated in 1955 with a B.A. in Education. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years, one in Alaska. He returned to begin his career as a teacher and coach at Evergreen High School (1956-1973) in the Highline School District. In 1963, he earned an M.S. in Physical Education from the University of Washington. He completed his career at Highline High School where he coached the varsity basketball team (1973-1991). After retiring in 1993, Jim enjoyed travel, golf, gardening, hiking, running, and getting together with friends. He experienced kidney failure in 1998 and then received kidney dialysis treatments for 13 years, allowing him to continue to enjoy some of these activities. He also served as a Patient Representative on the Regional Council for Northwest Kidney Centers. Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol (Smith) Robeck; daughter, Susan Peters (Bill); sisters Kathryn Sundquist (Don) and Eunice Robeck of Tacoma; as well as brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, and their families. John Alfred Syverson

Passed away January 23, 2011 after a lengthy illness. He was born March 6, 1922 in the family home in Orchard Avenue in the Spokane Valley to Clara L. and Alfred H. Syverson. His father was President and founder of Spokane's Syverson-Kelly Advertising Agency. John completed his entire schooling in the West Valley School District, graduating in 1940 and earned a high school tennis championship. He continued to play tennis into his 80's. John also earned his Eagle Scout Award. During high school he met his future wife, June Evelyn Smith and they were married 66 years. They attended Washington State College together until, led them to new responsibilities. John served in the, Air Corp, trained as a B-17 and B-29 pilot and co-pilot in the south. Upon returning to Spokane after the war he was a buyer and salesperson for the Crescent. In 1954 he moved his young family to Greenacres, WA to pursue a dream of farming where he built and maintained a successful egg production farm. Later in life John became a Real Estate agent for Alvin J. Wolff. For the past 20 years John and June have resided at Rockwood Forest Estates where they both have been embraced and lovingly cared for by the community. John was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister Dorothy Godsall. He is survived by his wife who never left his side, June Syverson; son John Jay Syverson (Sandra) of Seattle; daughter Janie O'Brien (Steven) of Spokane Valley; grandsons Darby O'Brien (Autemn) and Dan O'Brien (Misty); five great-grandchildren Skyler, Kenzie, Keenan, Ian and Aidan. He was "Uncle John" to loving nieces and nephews. ROHME, Josephine S., Josephine S. Rohme passed away January 22, 2011 in Spokane, WA. She was born February 9, 1926 in Spokane, the daughter of Joseph and Susana (DiLuch) Priano. Josephine is the sixth of seven children, all who grew up in Spokane. Josephine met her husband Wayne Rohme in 1950 and married in 1951. Their marriage was of 60 years. In 1958 their son, Mike was born. Josephine worked for Tidyman's after Mike grew up and was their Food Demonstrator. She was known as the pizza lady serving pizza and flaunting her Italian Heritage while wearing her green, white and red Italian hat. Wayne and Josephine's passion was being with the American Italian Club where their lives were enriched with close friends and social gatherings. Josie loved to dance and her laughter and humor brought smiles to everyone she came in contact with. We love her and will miss her. Kathryn BENSHOOF Kathryn Charlotte Benshoof passed away January 22, 2011 at the age of 91. She was born December 18, 1919 in Jamestown, North Dakota, the daughter of Carl and Charlotte Odney. Active in Girl Scouting, she earned the Golden Eaglet award. After graduating from Jamestown High School, she attended Jamestown College before transferring to North Dakota State College at Fargo, North Dakota where she graduated in June 1941 with a BS degree from the School of Pharmacy. As a Registered Pharmacist, Kathryn worked in North Dakota and taught Pharmaceutical Chemistry at North Dakota State. On May 15, 1945, she married Lynden Benshoof in the Navy Chapel in Bremerton. Upon completion of Lynden's active duty with the Navy, they lived in Renton and moved to Bellevue in 1957 where they raised their children. Kathryn worked for several drug stores in the Seattle area as a pharmacist and was an inspiring Girl Scout leader who loved the outdoors where she skied, camped, backpacked and cruised in their 19 foot boat throughout the Northwest and British Columbia. She belonged to the Bellevue First Presbyterian Church. Kathryn is survived by her husband, Lynden, her daughter and son-in-law Lynda Kay and Jim Frantz , her son and daughter-in-law William and Linda Benshoof, grandchildren Chester Frantz, Tracy Frantz Reinhart, Chris Benshoof and Brian Benshoof, and great-grandchildren Katelyn and Max Reinhart and Miles Frantz with more to come. Kathryn "Kate" Lee DONAHUE Age 25, died January 6, 2011 as a result of injuries incurred by a fire in Puerto Rico. Kate was born May 20, 1985 in San Bernardino, CA and brought much joy to her parents, Michelle and Tom, and to her brother Keenan during her short life. She spent her childhood in Marysville and Stanwood, WA. Moving to Chandler, AZ, she graduated from Valley Christian High School in 2003. She followed her calling to become a nurse like her mother and graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College in California in 2005. After working for St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco, she relocated to Seattle, WA and began working for Group Health on Capitol Hill. She was a vibrant woman who thoroughly embraced life. She sought out adventure and fun in all she did. Her smiling face and quirky sense of humor endeared her to her family, friends and coworkers. Children adored her because she never forgot how to be a kid. In Seattle she met her kindred soul and fiancé, Jesus Sanchez Vasquez, a mechanical engineer at Boeing, who perished in the same fire that claimed Kate's life. They were the happiest when together. Kate is survived by her parents Michelle and Tom Donahue, Walnut Creek, CA; her brother Keenan, Chandler, AZ; her grandmothers Patricia Lee Hall, Santa Rosa, CA and Roberta Gee, Clinton, IA; aunts and uncles Dianna Lee and David Thompson, Ashland, OR; Patrice and Paul Moore, Santa Rosa, CA; Carol Hall and Scott Kinzy, Santa Rosa, CA; Mary and Brett Miller, San Diego, CA; Teresa Donahue, DeWitt, IA; Kevin and Julie Donahue, DeWitt, IA; Vince and Barb Donahue, DeWitt, IA; and Pat and Deb Donahue, Camanche, IA. She also left a large circle of cousins, and extended family and friends who adored her. Funeral services for Kate will be held on January 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Alderwood Community Church, 3403 Alderwood Mall Blvd., Lynnwood, WA 98037. A joint celebration of Kate and Jesus' lives will be held at 1:30 p.m. on January 29th at the same location. Thank you, everyone, for your love, prayers, and support. Norene passed away suddenly on January 21, 2011. She was 72 years old. She had recently moved to Mill Creek, WA but lived most of her life in Everett., Norene was born November 4, 1938, the youngest of five girls. She graduated from Everett High School., She married John Erickson in 1957. They had a long and happy life together until he passed away in 2006., Jack and Nee Nee love to travel and she continued to travel as long as her health would allow., Norene worked at Scott Paper for 20 years, where she made many life-long friends. They enjoyed bowling, lunching and sewing. Norene created beautiful hookrugs and needlepoints. She made so many wonderful hats, scarves, blankets and quilts, most of which she donated to charities., Norene is survived by son, Wade Erickson; daughter, Karla (Brett) Delavergne; and grandson, Andy. Martin "Les" "Buzz"/"Buzzy" Martin, 68, died January 25, 2011 from bladder cancer in Everett, Washington., He was born September 21, 1942 to Eva Catlin Martin and Leslie Lafayette Martin in Snohomish General Hospital., He was a lifelong resident of the Snohomish area. His pioneer grandfather, Henry Martin, homesteaded in 1900 at Thomas Lake, what is now in the city of Mill Creek, Washington. He also was proud of his maternal grandmother, who was an Indian princess in the Cowlitz Tribe., Recently, he also was proud of his role in preventing the City of Snohomish from building its new senior center on top of the old pioneer/American Indian cemetery on Cypress Avenue. (The city ultimately spent $300,000 in its foiled attempt at the Cypress Avenue cemetery.), He attended Snohomish schools and served his country in the U.S. Army and Washington Army National Guard, 1961-1967., Per his request, there will be no services. Arrangements by the Neptune Society. A remembrance reception will be announced at a later date., Many thanks to the staff at Forest View Transitional Care Center and Providence Hospice for their kindness and compassion these past few weeks., He will be truly missed by many, including a special friend, Kay Stahl.

Lori L. White, age 56, of Bellingham, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 21st, 2011. Lori was born July 7th, 1954 in Bellingham to Sharky and Betty Leavitt. She grew up in the Deming area and created many special memories on Church Mountain, which she lovingly shared with her family. In 1972 Lori graduated from Mount Baker High School and from there went on to create a life in Bellingham. On December 1st, 1982 Lori vowed to spend the rest of her life with her best friend Jim White. Their relationship was one built of love, trust and respect. Lori enjoyed working with her dad at his AAA Vacuum business. Over the years she had numerous jobs, but her love of children led her to her most recent, as a school bus driver for the Bellingham School District. Lori's love of life, family and community was shown in all she did. She was a person of energy; one who made things happen. Family and friends were her life. She was a true friend to everyone she came in contact with, whether it was a brief encounter in the grocery store or a lifelong friend from grade school. Lori was a volunteer

Lucile Collins PRICE July 12, 1917 ~ January 23, 2011 Lucile passed away peacefully, Sunday January 23rd, surrounded by the family that adored her. Lucile was born in Sunnyside WA, to Archie and Annie Collins. She was their youngest and only daughter. As a teenager, the family moved to Kirkland WA and Lucile graduated from Kirkland High School. Set up by mutual friends, Lucile met her future husband, Tom, on a blind date, New Year's Eve 1940.They were married 4 months later and would have celebrated 70 years together on April 26th. Lucile was a lifelong homemaker and mother. She liked to read, crochet and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed lots of wonderful vacations to Hawaii, Australia, Europe and lived on Guam for 2 years. She also enjoyed her many family trips to Disneyland. In addition to her loving husband Tom, Lucile survived by 6 children, Richard and his wife Linda, Joan and her husband Art, Donna and her husband Dale, Gail and her husband Mike, Janice and her husband Abel, Gary and his wife Dawn. She also has 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, along with nieces, a nephew and cousins. She will be missed by all. Meaghan Beatrice Battocchio Meaghan, our Joy was taken from us on Sunday morning January 23. We can hardly believe she has left us so suddenly; Meaghan was planning her future and just beginning her young adult life. She was a ray of sunshine to all who had the chance to know her. He was born January 28, 1961 in Bellingham to Gustaf and Marlene (McGarva) Lootens, and attended Nooksack schools. An outdoorsman at heart, Matthew loved hunting, fishing and was employed as a logger. He was known for his creative mechanical abilities and was a collector of treasures. Tara, Taz and Tangy were his beloved American Bull Dogs. Matt married Tammy Hanowell in 1982 and following a divorce they remained friends. He later married and divorced Julie Pennio and they also remained friends. Patricia L. KYLEN Patricia Lee Kylen, 76, died peacefully while sleeping in the early hours of Tuesday, January 18th at Northwest Hospital after a 7-year battle with multiple cancers. Patricia is survived by her husband Richard S. Kylen, 9 children and 8 grand children. Patricia was born in Juneau, Alaska on March 20, 1934 moved to Mercer Island as a young child and enjoyed riding streetcars while visiting Seattle. She once said, "My favorite thing as a child was sliding on the mahogany benches in the streetcars when they went up or down hills". After attending Seattle University, Patti worked at Boeing and other companies before spending the last 26 years of her career working for The City of Seattle as an Administrative Staff Assistant for Customer Services and Office Services at Seattle Center. Some of Patti's favorite things in life were reading books for her book club and spending time in Hawaii with her husband. She has known some of the women in her book club more than 50 years. Patti was a great supporter of The Association for Catholic Childhood. There has been an endowment fund setup in memory of Patricia Lee Kylen for The Association for Catholic Childhood, and donations can be sent in her name to: The Association for Catholic Childhood - 100 23rd Ave South Seattle, WA 98144-2302 The Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady of Fatima, 3301 W. Penny Lynn Wood passed away on January 21, 2011 at her home in Everett, WA with her husband and daughter by her side., Born July 21, 1963, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Mickey and Martha Walker, and William and Mary Angilley; parents, Hy and Barbara Walker; and brother, Johnny., She leaves behind her husband, Mark Wood; her daughter, Cassandra Canady; and her sister, Kathy., The last two years were some of her happiest, doing things with Mark she's always wanted to do. Phyllis J. Rucker

RUCKER, Phyllis J., Devoted wife and mother, passed away in her sleep on January 23, 2011 at Harvard Park retirement community. Phyllis was born in Spokane on July 13, 1924, the oldest child of Neil and Eileen Mahar. She married Louis W. Rucker who preceded her in death in 2003 after 58 years of marriage. Phyllis and Lou lived in the Redmond-Bellevue area for 35 years, prior to Phyllis moving back to Spokane in 2010., After raising three children, Phyllis enjoyed a 37-year career with Washington Mutual Bank. In addition, she had a -˜green thumb' for gardening that always included beautiful flower displays in her home. A bridge game with friends was a favorite pastime of Phyllis and Lou, as was traveling following retirement., Her three children, Denny and Chris Rucker, Spokane, Dick and Sheila Rucker, Bothell, and Sue and David True, Kirkland, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive Phyllis., Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Priscilla "Patty" DUFFY Patty Duffy took her last breath on 1-14-11. Eight children lovingly survive her; Colleen, Sean, Kevin, Patrick, Maureen, Erin, Brian and Rosemary, along with fifteen grandchildren and a large, extended family throughout the country. Patty was longtime resident of Seattle and an active member of St. Benedict's Parish. She enjoyed travel, baking, crafting, thrift shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral Mass at 11AM Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 49th and Wallingford, with gathering to follow. Raymond R. Snow A retired teacher, and long-time resident of Port Orchard, died January 24, 2011 at the Washington Veteran's Home, with his loving wife of 64 years at his side. Ray was born on May 24, 1923, in his parents' farm house in Roy. Survivors include Margaret Norma (Howard); Paul (Susan) of Seattle; Mark (Diana) of Port Orchard; Colleen (Ted Cox) of Syracuse, NY; Gretchen Schaefer (Jerry); of Redmond; Steve (Mary Kay) of Springfield, VA; Tim, of San Francisco; and Kelly Almeleh (Larry), of Bellevue, also 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Russell HENDRICKSON Russell passed away January 6th, 2010 in Mt. Vernon, WA, at the age of 83. He was born in Mekinock, ND on February 24, 1927 Russell was preceded in death by his wife Jacquline, and son Timothy. Together they lived in Shoreline for 60 years, raising their family, where Russell owned RA Hendrickson Painting Company where he worked until his retirement. During his many years as a painting contractor, Russell painted many of Seattle's most noted landmarks and buildings both commercial and private. Ryan Tropple went to Heaven on January 16, 2011. He was born at Northwest Hospital in Seattle, WA on September 22, 1988. Ryan lived in Everett his whole life and attended Emerson Elementary, Eisenhower Middle School and Cascade High School where he was involved in wrestling and football. He also played Baseball for South Everett Little League., Ryan's main passion was riding dirt bikes. He was a member of the StumpJumpers Motorcycle Club and was happiest on his KTM. SHARYN J. PARKER

Sharyn was best known for her strength, her sense of humor and quick wit, but mostly for the love she gave unconditionally to those around her. She was an incredibly strong woman who raised four children on her own, teaching them the true value of love and family. To know Sharyn was to understand that true strength comes from love, the love of family and of friends. Sharyn was employed by Kaiser Engineering and Fluor Federal Services until 1999, when she became ill., Sharyn is survived by her four children, Matthew Tatum, Holly Persinger, Vilora Ravely and Jacquelyne Campbell, her nine grandchildren, two sisters, and many friends who were also considered family., It is with our deepest regrets that we say goodbye to this amazing mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She graduated from high school in Klickitat, WA., Sandra received an Associate Degree from the, and obtained a Bachelor's of Science Degree from the University of California, San Bernadino., She worked as a Registered Nurse from 1975 until 2004, caring for critically ill patients., On May 2, 1959, she married James Lawrence Miller in Bandcroft, West Virginia. A strong woman, Sandra prepared the family for each move, following James in his military service. They lived in France, Germany, Spain, England, Japan, California, Washington, Illinois, Montana, Florida, North Carolina and Idaho., She was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she served as an eucharistic minister., Sandra enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family., Sandra is survived by her sons, James Lawrence (Christie) Miller Jr. of Burlington, NC and Mark L. Sidney Rosen Jr.

Sidney Rosen, Jr. who was 90 years old, Hebrew name Binyamin Ben Yitzchak was residing at the V.A. Com- munity Living Center in Spokane, WA, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011, just three days before his 90th birth- day. Sid was born on January 27, 1921 to Charlotte and Sid Rosen Sr., in Syracuse NY. His father played pro baseball in Syracuse and his mother was a model. Sid was raised in St. Paul MN and he attended the, until serving in, from 1942 to 1946 as an Army Air Corps Cadet. He was an airplane mechanic/engineer on B25s and B17s. He was injured in the Philippines/Okinawa when his jeep hit a landmine and then was honorably discharged on March 11, 1946., Sid moved to Coeur d' Alene, ID and operated the Fish Inn with his parents in 1946 until 1949 when the freeway was put in and business was no longer exposed to traffic. Sid stayed in the area and managed the Vet's Club and the Silver Bar, among other clubs until he bought the Friendly Tavern in Hayden ID in 1964; where he eventually renamed the bar/restaurant to "Chef Rosen's". This establishment ultimately became quite famous for many reasons, including his demand for "Reservations Only ". Sid operated the restaurant with his mother for some years and with the help of his two son's, Joe and Mike, until he sold and retired in 1982. One of the most proud and talked about moments for Sid at the restaurant, was when he served twenty-two attorney generals from all across the United States. They enjoyed a fabulous dinner at his restaurant and after the meal, the entire group gave Sid a standing ovation for the most memorable and fabulous meal that they had ever had., Sid lived his life to the fullest and his character was unique to say the least, the stories he had and told to so many were numerous. He always said it was because he had been a bartender his whole life. Sid would say that anything someone would talk to him about would always remind him of a joke, which he was more than happy to tell., Sid belonged to the Synagogue, Temple Beth Shalom and was a life member of the, . During the time he was not at the restaurant, making his famous twice baked potatoes, he was a farmer. For 25 years he raised cattle and was crazy about cutting wood, at one point he had as much as 60 cords of wood surrounding the house., Sid was very loving father, thought the world of all of his children. He was married to Irma for thirteen years and had five children: three sons and two daughters. With his second wife, Ellie, he had a son named Samuel Aaron, whom they dedicated to God. Sam now lives in Israel, married with five children and is a Yeshiva student. Ellie had two daughters Summer and Johanna., Sid had one brother, Milt, who was born on the same day, exactly two years younger and passed away on January 18, 2008; with one surviving son, Steve Rosen, who now resides in Florida. Sid is survived by his son, David William Gridley, who reside in Meridian, ID, Cydney Ann Comstock, who resides in Liberty Lake, WA; Katherine Marie Rosen, who resides in the Coeur d' Alene area, Joseph Elliott Rosen, who also resides in the Coeur d' Alene area and Samuel Aaron Rosen, who resides in Israel. His son, Michael S. Rosen preceded him in passing. Sid has 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren., A graveside service will be held at Coeur d' Alene Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Tara Lynn Salisbury

Tara passed away on Sunday, January 16th after a year long illness. She was born on August 8, 1975 to Jim and Melba Yeck in Boulder, CO. She was raised in Boulder where she graduated from Scholastica High School in Canyon City, CO., She made Spokane her home in order to attend Gonzaga University and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in 1997. She went on to gain her Masters Degree from Eastern Washington University in Education and Spanish. She taught Spanish and Home Economics to home schooled children for Spokane School District 81. She loved her students. Her influence will continue to live on in them., While attending university she worked at Lydig Construction, Mountain Gear and the Elk Public House., Tara was an athlete. She was a rock climber, runner, bicyclist and hiker. She ascended many difficult rock climbing routes in the Western United States., She joined Nick Salisbury in marriage and moved to Coeur d'Alene. She continued her education earning her real estate license. She managed teaching, real estate sales and waiting tables at the Elk Public House along with providing a home and loving companionship to Nick., Tara loved Mexico. Nick and she vacationed and honeymooned there., She was fascinated with cooking constantly providing meals for Nick and family and friends on weekends and holidays. She also provided camp cooking in Alaska when called upon as a support to Nick's work with Crux Subsurface, Inc. She painted with acrylics and displayed them at home., Tara provided loving care to many dogs throughout her life including shelter dogs. She made friends of wild birds, ducks and the other wildlife near to her Coeur d'Alene home. She appreciated nature and loved to be outdoors. Tara was a beautiful, kind and loving person with all who came into contact with her., She is survived by her husband, Nick Salisbury, parents, Jim and Melba Yeck of Boulder, CO, brother, Dan Yeck, aunt and uncle, Al and Rita Bates of Naples, FL, aunt and uncle, Kathy and George Shave of Jupiter, FL, cousin Eileen DeVito, of Las Vegas, NV and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins., A private service for family and close friends was held last Saturday. Another remembrance will be held at Wild Walls at 202 W. 2nd Ave on Saturday, January 29th at 6:30 and move to Lotus Self Defense on the 2nd floor of the Armory at 7:30 until 11:00 P.M., In lieu of flowers a donation to The Kootenai Humane Society at 11600 N. Ramsey Road, Hayden ID 83835 is appreciated. Gifts should be identified with "in memory of Tara Salisbury".

Troy M. Taylor, 82, of Quincy, WA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 21, 2011. He was at home with his family. Troy was born October 14, 1928, at Seminole, OK, to Everett and Anna Taylor. After his service in the Army, he attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 1953. He was a JCPenney manager for 32 years.

Viola Lucy CLAIBOURN

Viola Lucy CLAIBOURN Viola Lucy (Henneman) Claibourn went home to her Lord on January 22, 2011. She was born July 31, 1933 in Stanley, Wisconsin, to Harold and Ilene Henneman. She resided in Renton, Washington from 1953 to present. She was an avid gardener, nature and animal lover, talented seamstress and a member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, where she participated in their quilting ministry. Viola is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Email Jack "Bud" Claibourn as well as five children. They are Linda Rone (Ken), Karen Walton (Jon), Susan Aldouri (Hisham), Timothy (Debbie) and Deborah Rossi (Paul). She also has twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at 1:00pm at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 12819 160th Avenue SE, Renton, Washington. WILMA LEEILAH RODAHL

Wilma Leeilah Rodahl, 90, died January 25, 2011 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, Washington. She was born to William and Goldie Curran in Bridgeport, Nebraska on July 29, 1920., As a young child her family moved to Tacoma where she was raised and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938., Wilma met Al Rodahl in 1938. While watching Wilma sing at a church service, Al nudged his buddy and said, "That's the girl I'm going to marry!" They were married on March 31, 1939. Two years later they had their daughter, LaVone Lee (Toni)., Wilma's first job was at the downtown Tacoma Metropolitan Variety Store at the candy counter. During war time she worked at the Naval Depot as a stenographer. Wilma had to look busy at all times so, when she did not have an order to type, she wrote Al love poems. She worked as a switchboard operator in the basement of the Bon Marche where she excelled at customer relations. This led to her advancement as the secretary to the Personnel Director for the new Northgate location. Later she was employed by Fidelity Savings and Loan and was even crowned "Miss Thrift" in 1954., Wilma and Al spent many summer vacations and special occasions at her parent's home on Clear Lake, located near Eatonville. They loved to camp but, on their 25th anniversary they traveled to Hawaii and decided that was the place to be. Throughout the years they traveled to many wonderful destinations including revisiting their favorite, the Hawaiian Islands, a dozen more times thru the years., In 1982 Wilma and Al moved to the Skagit Valley to be close to family. Wilma enjoyed being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilma loved attending all of their school and sporting events, even suffering from a hard hit baseball down the third base line right in the shin. Ouch! She shared her love of baking by teaching her great-granddaughters how to bake Spritz cookies for Christmas. This is a tradition that will be passed on., Wilma was involved in volunteer groups thru Salem Lutheran Church: Sewing for Others, Care Team and Food and Fellowship. She and Al enjoyed being greeters at church and made many lasting friendships through their church family., She was an inspiration to everyone she met and a mentor to many. Her kind spirit, her beautiful heart and her devotion to her husband and family are qualities that made her so special. Her love for Al was obvious to all, holding hands to the very last., Wilma is survived by her husband of 72 years, Alvin Rodahl; daughter Toni Hulbert of Mount Vernon; grandchildren: Krista (Jeff) Jewett of Sedro-Woolley, Kelli (Steve) Perry of Bow; great-grandchildren Cody and Audrey Jewett, Reed and Jenna Perry, along with a loving and supportive extended family., Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Viola Gray., Memorials can be made, in Wilma's honor, to Food and Fellowship of Salem Lutheran Church, 2529 North La Venture Road, Mount Vernon, WA 98273 or a charity of your choice., The family wishes to thank the staff at Skagit Valley Hospital who provided excellent care for Wilma this last week and over the last few years. Also, thank-you to the staff of Hawthorne Funeral Home for their comforting assistance during this time., A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, January 29th, 11:00am at Salem Lutheran Church, 2529 North La Venture Road, Mount Vernon, WA. Wai "Faye" Chong

Wai Ching "Faye" Chong, 75, a long time Vancouver, WA resident, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 in Portland, OR. Wai was born in Kwangtung, China on March 19, 1935 and immigrated to Vancouver from Hong Kong in 1959 after marrying her husband, William Chong (1911-1990)., Wai and her husband raised cattle on a farm in Hazel Dell. In the late 1970's, she helped her brothers and sister start the China Gardens restaurant in Vancouver. Wai also worked at Tektronix for 18 years., Wai loved cooking, gardening, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved taking care of her grandchildren and going with them on vacations., Wai will be deeply missed by her daughters, Cathy (Nicholas) Manwell, Karen (Steve) Ashmore; son, Kevin Chong; granddaughters, Jeanette Manwell, Sarah Manwell, Caitlin Ashmore; grandsons, Tyler Ashmore, Chase Ashmore, and Alex Ashmore; her mother, Yuen Sun Dor; sisters, Wai Jing Lee and Eva Tam; and brothers, Chuck Chan and Terry Chan., A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 in the Adams Chapel at River View Cemetery, 0300 SW Taylors Ferry Road, Portland, Oregon., Please sign Faye's guest book at:
