Ellis G. Cox

At the age of 89, Ellis left us suddenly and returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on February 9, 2011, due to an acute lung inflammation. He was born in Joy Coy, CO, July 4, 1921, the second of four boys born to parents Icie Marie (Hoover) and Fred L. Cox. The family left the dustbowl of Colorado during the depression, moving to, the lush paradise of Sandpoint, ID. There, Ellis graduated from High School, met and married the love of his life, Velma Lenora Bailey. They married July 14, 1940, and just last year celebrated 70 years of love and commitment, before Velma's death November 19, 2010. A veteran of, , Ellis served as an aircraft mechanic with the Navy. In 1951, he graduated from Northwest Nazarene College, and studied further at Walla Walla College and Central Washington College, Ellensburg. Ellis answered the Lord's call into pastoral ministry with Rufus, OR as his first church in 1943. He was formally ordained into the Ministry of the Church of the Nazarene in 1953. Rev. Ellis Cox pastored until 1979, in Washington Churches: Deer Park, Ewan, Walla Walla Aldersgate, Yakima West Valley and Spokane Bethel. His last years of service to the denomination were in Ohio and Kansas City representing the Nazarene Headquarters Department of Stewardship where he entered retirement in 1986. After retirement, a lifelong learner and hard worker, Ellis still loved to read, he designed and built their retirement home, built a large home in Alaska for friends, fished, did craft woodworking, traveled and did volunteer service trips for missions. The last five years though he dedicated to his wife as the Best Care Giver Ever! As surviving family, we are so proud of the person he was and witness to his humble greatness: daughters, Lavona Smith (Richard) of Kenai, AK, and Joyce Chitwood (Monte) of Mead, WA; six grandsons and one granddaughter, Nathan Smith (Debbie), Joel Smith (Nikki) and Daniel Smith, all of Kenai, AK, Josh Smith (Melissa) of Monte Vista, CO, Lane Chitwood (Hilary) of Boise, ID, Matthew Chitwood of Washington DC, Vicki Shingleton (Lamont) of Spirit Lake, ID; nine great grandchildren, Josh, Samantha, Jacob, Samuel, Julia, Audrey, Natalie, William and Marie: and three great great grandchildren, J.J., Mariah and Kendra. He was indeed God's gift to grateful family and friends. His sweet, gentle spirit, words of wisdom and "spunk" always made us smile. The sorrow his death brings is swallowed up in victory by his entry into the presence of his loving Heavenly Father and Lord, Jesus Christ. We will see dad soon and enjoy the homecoming he has already received from: wife, Velma Lenora Cox; daughter, Anita; son, Gary and wife Linda and their daughter Vonnie; parents, Fred and Icie Cox; and brothers, Joe, Ray and Vernon Cox.Visitation Tuesday, February, 15, 2011, from 2:00-"8:00 P.M. at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home. Janet Stephenson passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011 at her home in Everett's Washington Oakes community where she had lived since 2005., Janny was born January 16, 1932 in Everett. Sharing love, friendship and fun was a personal priority throughout her 79-year lifetime. Janny had a heart of gold with an endless capacity for love which resulted in countless life-long friendships. She was truly one of a kind., In the final days of Janny's short battle with cancer, notes poured in which were posted on her bedroom wall, enabling her to absorb the love and comfort all these friends hoped to reciprocate. Numerous visitors held her hand, shared stories from the past, and even sang the Everett High School fight song together. In one conversation, two young friends told Janny how she had been "Aunt Janny" to so many people, how she made them laugh, and how they loved her for that. Janny replied, "That was my mission, and now it is up to the next generation to carry on.", The daughter of the late Edwin and Helen Templeton of Everett, Janny is survived by her sister, Mary Veva Ingram of Everett; sister-in-law, Patricia Ingram; niece, Susan Ingram Mackey (Geoffrey Mackey) of Calgary, Alberta; nephew, William Templeton Ingram (Melissa Ingram) of Howell, New Jersey; grand-nieces, Lee Melissa Ingram, Sarah Patricia Ingram and Drew Thompson Mackey; and grand-nephew, Connor Templeton Mackey., Preceding her in death were her husband, Ernie (Steve) Stephenson; and her brother-in-law, William Ingram., Janny was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1951 where she was a member of TNT and later an advisor. She was a skilled photographer and took many pictures and portraits of friends and family. Janny enjoyed cooking and was well known for her deviled eggs, aspic salads, casserole and Jell-O creations. Her love of food extended to her career as an employee of the Providence Hospital cafeteria kitchen., An important part of Janny's life for a number of years was her participation in activities at the Stillaquamish Athletic Club where she swam and developed many long-time friendships. A sports fan, she attended Seattle Storm basketball, Mariners and AquaSox baseball and Washington Oakes employee team games where she was known to be an enthusiastic fan., Janny was always up for a road trip, whether north to Canada, south to Oregon, or all points of Puget Sound with girlfriends, husband Steve and Washington Oakes friends. She had a life-long love for animals, consistently maintaining a membership with the national Humane Society. Her family fondly remembers her favorite pets Little Cat and Kris Woo., Janny was a member of KAPS (Kidney Auxiliary of Puget Sound); Group 3, Providence General Children's Association, and a past member of Ladies Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was an office volunteer for Providence Hospice for a number of years and also served with the Washington Oakes A-Okay Committee. One of her recent responsibilities with A-Okay was helping with the popular "dunk tank" at the Washington Oakes Summer Carnival., The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at Washington Oakes for their compassion and professionalism. Their care was exemplary and greatly appreciated. Providence Hospice and All About Care provided an immediate and caring response to assist Janny at the end of her life. A special thank-you to "Team Janny" who helped in so many important ways during this emotional journey: Jeanne Metzger, Anne and Jack Fischer, Clyde and Judy Pitcher, Elaine Soriano and Kris Hausmann., The family welcomes all of Janny's friends, neighbors, acquaintances, supporters, fans and caregivers to attend A Celebration of Janny's Life. The event will take place Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Everett Golf and Country Club 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. To appropriately reflect Janny's fun-filled approach to life, the family encourages you to wear colorful clothing, bring photos, memorabilia and stories reflecting your personal friendship with "Aunt Janny." Kelton Errol-Lee "KK" Little

On February 7, 2011 a brave, loving, gentle, witty and thoughtful young man, full of character, lost his five year long fight with cancer., Kelton is survived by his parents, Richard and Alanna Little; his brothers, Jeremy and Jeffrey; grandparents, Doug and June Little and Susan Stafford- Glynn; many aunts, uncles, cousins; and a niece and nephew., He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Errol Glynn., A Hero has been taken. A hero is a person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for brave deeds and noble qualities. Kelton was a hero to anyone who met him, and many people around the world that never got the chance, but knew of him through friends, family and the internet. Kelton will always be our hero., Kelton lost his five year long battle with cancer on February 7th at home, in the loving arms of his parents, Richard and Alanna. He was born in Edmonds, Washington on December 23, 1996 as an early Christmas gift to the world. Kelton lived life every minute of his 14 short years, he was an avid baseball fan and an excellent player, making the Mukilteo Little League all star team twice. His favorite position was 2nd base, but KK would play any position with a smile, playing with his whole heart. He would always cheer on his team the entire game; win or lose, he was a great sport. At a special game in October of 2008, Kelton was not able to play due to severe pain and affects from chemo and radiation. But, he dressed for the game and was in the dugout supporting his team 100%. His team, the Black Knights, won and, as is their tradition, they all signed the game ball. Typically these 11 year old boys would chatter and fuss about who gets the game ball; not this game. As one, they presented KK with the game ball. He was their MVP. KK loved the Mariners, he was a loyal fan and was able to go to several games and special events., KK was an excellent student and an example to others at Horizon Elementary and Olympic View Middle School. He was loved by students, teachers and staff alike. While at Horizon, Kelton was a Co-host of HOWL TV. He and his co-hosts were selected to tour the set and talk with KING5 News staff. The family would like to thank all of Kelton's dear friends and educators at Horizon and Olympic for all the support and love they showered on Kelton. He loved you all., During Kelton's battle, several different groups and individuals held fund raisers and events to help with the astronomical costs of this type of fight, and to give himself and his family strength for his battle. There are too many people to thank individually here. One of Kelton's school mates coordinated a "Kar wash for Kelton" at Horizon, they contacted 710KIRO, where DJ's Ron and Don broadcasted live on location. It was a very moving event for everyone involved. Kelton was also honored by the Washington Army National Guard; he got to ride in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle and a Chinook Helicopter, and was given the honorary rank of Sergeant Major. At Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, he was "adopted" by the Nascar Whelen Mini-stock division; he got to lead pace laps and was presented with a helmet signed by all the drivers and a trophy. He also picked the winner of the race and was rewarded by the race being dedicated to him and the driver, Mark Weedin, giving KK his trophy. Another event was "the Little Ride", a Motorcycle ride up Steven's Pass to Leavenworth, WA., KK enjoyed traveling. He was able to go to Walt Disney World in Florida thanks to the Make a Wish Foundation. He made a trip with his family to Thailand and New Orleans. Some of his favorite places to camp were Leavenworth and Sun Lakes with friends and family., Kelton was treated by the wonderfully compassionate and professional staff of Dr. Park at Seattle Children's hospital. The family is eternally grateful for all of their exceptional care., Kelton Errol-Lee Little fought his valiant battle against cancer for over four years. During that long battle he touched so many lives with his bravery, courage, compassion and thoughtfulness of others. He was always so thankful for everyone visiting with him and caring. He was a gracious host until the very end. Kelton never complained about his fight and was strong in his faith. When asked if he was scared, he would reply with "this is Destiny, God wants me to fight this cancer and is giving me strength when I am scared". What Kelton was most concerned about was his family and how difficult it was for his parents to have to go through all of the pain and heartache. Kelton never gave up his fight until he was certain that his Mom and Dad would be able to cope with him being gone., KK, while dealing with great adversity, constantly displayed more character than most would in a similar fight. Kelton's character has inspired many and has left a legacy of strength for anyone who knew him to remember and strive to live up to. His distinguished courage throughout the battle gave many strength to face their own challenges; he set a noble example for anyone to aspire to emulate., Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Parish located at 8517 7th Ave. SE, Everett, WA at 11 a.m. on February 19, followed by internment at Evergreen Cemetery., A celebration of his life, strength and courage will be held the same day, 2:30 p.m., Mariner High School's gymnasium, Lynnwood., The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, you each make a conscious effort to get out and do something to fight cancer and support those with the disease to honor KK., Suggestions are: Volunteer for the Make a Wish Foundation; become a bone marrow donor through organizations like DKMS at, , participate in the, 3 Day or, of course, donate to your favorite cancer fighting organization.
